General Details:
Client: I’m in the Lobby
Project Type: Website Development & Brand Implementation
Scope: Front-end development, layout refinement, responsive design, site setup
Platform: WordPress (Kalium theme)
Launch: 2025
Project Overview:
I’m in the Lobby is a marketing website for a brand strategist, based on a design from Someone Creative. My role on the project was to translate that design into a WordPress build, implementing asymmetrical layouts, layered visual patterns, and a strong sense of composition that needed to hold together across a wide range of screen sizes.
A key part of the challenge was preserving the intent of the design as the layout adapted responsively. Larger screens required careful control of scale and spacing, while smaller tablets and phones called for more deliberate decisions about proportion, alignment, and how the visual elements should shift without losing the character of the original design. Rather than collapsing into a simple stacked layout, the site was built to maintain the feel of asymmetry and layering throughout the responsive experience.
The build relied heavily on custom HTML blocks within the page builder, which gave me greater control over how the layout responded at different breakpoints. From there, the design was refined through rounds of review and feedback until the final result matched the creative direction across screen sizes.
In addition to the build itself, I handled staging, launch, and the migration from the staging server to the live site, including updating the client’s nameserver settings during launch.
Project Role:
I handled the WordPress development, front-end implementation, responsive layout refinement, and launch process for this project.
My role centered on translating the original design into a working website while preserving its asymmetrical structure and visual character across breakpoints. Because smaller-screen behavior was not fully defined in the initial design, I made responsive decisions based on the intent of the layout, then refined those choices through collaborative review and feedback.
I also set up the staging environment, managed the migration to the live server, and updated the client’s nameserver settings as part of the launch.
